University of Tennessee - Chattanooga
I served as the social media manager and graphic designer for several university departments, including TRIO Student Support Services, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and The Apothecary Gallery. In this role, I managed daily social media activity, created content calendars, and maintained each department’s online presence.
I captured, edited, and produced photos and videos for use across digital platforms, and designed a wide range of visual materials—including flyers, digital ads, and print and online media—to support advertising and marketing needs. I also wrote and edited copy for posts, campaigns, and promotional materials.
Additionally, I managed branding for each department’s social media platforms, overseeing setup, design, and content alignment, while monitoring engagement and interactions across channels. I coordinated with other UTC departments to support cross-promotion and collaborative social media efforts.

Over the course of my final year at UTC, I had the opportunity to manage three social media channels for the university, often simultaneously. This allowed me to engage with larger audiences and foster community, but most importantly, it gave me the chance to collaborate with peers across different art disciplines. Through this, I gained a deeper understanding of the influence of each discipline and the interdisciplinary connections between them.
With various content being generated—especially during our biggest push around the Senior Artist Talk—it was exciting to see and hear everyone’s ideas, perspectives, and voices, and to find ways to bridge our creativity across diverse backgrounds and majors. For example, the SSS Instagram page included students from all walks of life, many from majors unrelated to art. What I learned from managing the UTC ICA and Art pages, I applied to the SSS page, and the diversity of SSS helped me bring fresh perspectives back to the UTC ICA and Art pages. This exchange helped us connect more authentically with students and people both within and beyond the art department.

2020-2021
With UTC’s Student Support Services, I served as the sole social media manager, responsible for creating in-house content, posting, engaging with the community, growing the page, and ensuring visibility among students and others interested in SSS.
For the UTC SSS Instagram account, I scrubbed the page and applied the color palette from UTC’s style guide to give the page a cohesive look and establish the department’s identity as part of the UTC brand. The content I created included motivational quotes on Mondays, event invitations, and campus updates. Stories typically featured tips on Tuesdays, midweek reminders on Wednesdays, checklists, and quick alerts to keep followers informed throughout the week.
I also served as the in-house designer for SSS, creating flyers for print and digital distribution. These provided overviews of monthly events or highlighted specific activities, helping keep students engaged and informed.
This was an incredible work-study opportunity because the position didn’t exist before me—I built it from the ground up and made it my own. Many of the systems, activities, and color schemes I established are still in use today. I’m forever grateful to Ms. Melissa for believing in me, supporting my growth as a designer, and encouraging me to push creative boundaries. SSS will always hold a special place in my heart for financially helping me complete my last semesters at UTC. It may be a small resource on campus, but it’s mighty—and I made sure every design reflected its sense of community, power, and safety for students seeking support.
